On Monday 7th October, four of our mathematicians from year five: Evan, Haoze, Aaria and Zaina attended a Maths Challenge at Princethorpe College.

There were thirty local primary schools in attendance and the young mathematicians completed six mathematical tasks.  Our team from Ruckleigh felt well prepared after completing similar challenges at sessions held with Mrs Groen during lunchtime so the broken calculators, tangrams and make 24 challenges were all familiar but under restricted time pressure with a large audience watching, it felt much harder. Although we were not placed in the top three schools, we thoroughly enjoyed our morning out and everyone enjoyed the level of challenge. Well done to all of the children that took part and to those that completed the puzzles at lunchtime with Mrs Groen.
