Living eggs chick hatching
Monday, 2 June 2025
Over the past two weeks, we’ve had the incredible experience of hatching and caring for our very own chicks in school. It’s been a joy to watch them grow—more than doubling in size, developing their wing and tail feathers, and even starting to try out their flying skills! The children have been completely engaged, learning all about the life cycle of a hen, the characteristics of chicks, and the roles of hens and cockerels on the farm. The chicks quickly became school celebrities, with pupils and staff from all year groups stopping by to meet them—and many even had the chance to hold them. Although we’re sad to see them go, the chicks have now outgrown their brooding box and are ready to return to the farm where they’ll have plenty of space to thrive. It’s been a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved!
