Eversfield v Ruckleigh U11 girls
Wednesday, 19 November 2025
On Tuesday our under 11 girls football team took to the field in cold, wintry conditions to play against Eversfield. The girls were clearly nervous but also very excited as the whistle blew. It was clear from the outset that the standard of football being played by both teams was very high as both teams attacked and defended well. As the game progressed, Valeria in midfield was taking more and more control tackling ferociously and playing incisive passes up to Kahdija, our striker, who had numerous chances to open the scoring. However, a momentary lapse in concentration from the Ruckkeigh defence allowed the Eversfield striker to slide the ball past Simar in goal to make the score 1-0 on the stroke of half time. The second half was again one way traffic as Valeria once again took the game by the scruff of the neck. Her display in midfield was immense as she took the ball over and over again. But it didn’t appear to be her day-she struck the post of the goal 4 times with thundering efforts and the shots she put on goal seemed to be magnetised to the Eversfield goalkeeper who made save after save. The more Ruckleigh attacked, the more confident the team grew. Zaina and Amina on the wings kept flying past their defenders and put dangerous balls into the opposition area, but nothing seemed to be going in. It seemed like Ruckleigh would equalise at any moment. But, as football always does, Eversfield had one breakaway attack in the second half and the impressive duo of Zainab and Hasya in defence were caught out of position and the one shot that Ruckleigh faced all half trickled into the back of our net.Although Ruckleigh lost, the score line was in no way a reflection of how well the girls played and on another day, with more clinical finishing, this could have easily been a rout for Ruckleigh.
Star Player: Valeria- a dominating display in midfield.
