British Science Week 2025
Friday, 14 March 2025
British Science Week is set to enter its third decade in 2025, and what better way to mark this milestone than with the thought-provoking theme: ‘Change and Adapt’? Throughout the week, our children dived into a range of exciting activities, each designed to explore and celebrate this theme in action.
The week kicked off with a special assembly on Wednesday 5th March, where pupils reflected on the ways change and adaptation shape our daily lives and the world around us. From nature’s incredible survival strategies to the way technology evolves, the discussions sparked curiosity and inspiration.
In their science lessons, the children were challenged to design and launch their own paper rockets—aiming to fly between scale models of the Earth and Moon. They experimented with their designs, adapting them along the way to improve their flight paths. The results? A fantastic showcase of creativity, problem-solving, and scientific thinking!
Special congratulations to the following children, whose rockets launched to the Moon!
Year 4 - Ethan and Jayanth
Year 5 - Ammaarah, Dylan and Evan
Year 6 - Umar and Vanya
A highlight of the week was the visit from our guest speaker, Dr Hale, on Monday 10th March. She delivered a fascinating talk on the impact of chemicals on our environment and health, helping the children understand both the risks and the ways we can minimise harm. She also shared insights into what it’s like to pursue a career in science. The Q&A session that followed was just as inspiring, with pupils asking thoughtful, relevant, and engaging questions.
A huge THANK YOU to Dr Hale for sharing her expertise, and an equally big thank you to our incredible pupils for their enthusiasm, brilliant ideas, and participation throughout the week. Your energy made Science Week a huge success!
