On Wednesday, the full first team squad played against Westhouse on a frosty pitch in difficult conditions. However, both the A team and B team did themselves proud. The A team got the ball down and tried to play football and grew in confidence as the first half continued taking a deserved 1-0 lead through captain Areev. Mahdi added to the score with a pile driver from just inside his own half and the goals just kept flying in for Ruckleigh. Fuaad (1), Marley (2) and Ibrahim (3) all got themselves on the scoresheet in the second half whilst Neil in goal made a couple of superb saves to keep the ball out of our net. We ran out 8-1 winners which, under the circumstances, was a terrific result. The B team also started on the front foot taking an early lead through Rohan, but found themselves 5-2 down at half time. However, more than anything, I was pleased with their character in the second half and although they did eventually lose 5-4, they showed courage and determination to mount such an epic comeback.
