On Monday 3rd June we took a very talented and experienced cricket team to the Midlands ISA Under 11 Kwik Cricket Tournament, a tournament we have had previous success at. Expectations were high as we settled in to our first game against Ranby House who were also considered tournament favourites. It was a really tough game and we were clearly suffering from a little overconfidence and complacency giving careless runs away in our 8 overs. We batted well, but were struggling to keep up with the run rate. Even as Kian and Arnav smashed a few 6s in the last 2 overs we lost by 8 runs.

This spurred the boys on and we went through the rest of the day undefeated beating Highclare and Edenhurst easily and then demolishing Stafford Prep in the semi finals. So on to the final where we played a great Derby Grammar School team who had also won all but 1 of their games. The actual final was a tense low scoring affair as we restricted them to just 18 runs off their 8 overs. However we made hard work of knocking the runs off. It came down to the last 2 overs where we needed 9 runs to win ( but remember if you lost a wicket it was 5 runs off your score- so there was still jeopardy). Again it was down to captain Arnav and Kian to see us to the end. We slowly crept towards our required total and with 1 ball left the scores were tied- so 1 run off 1 ball was needed: Kian clipped the last ball of his legs, Arnav had backed up quite superbly and made his ground comfortably, Kian also ran through to secure a victory by 1 run. All in all it was yet another brilliantly organised day and all the boys had such a great time working and celebrating together as a team.
