An impressive performance from the Ruckleigh Under 11 Football Team.

Our first Under 11 match of the season against Eversfield was put in serious doubt after the persistent rain that plagued Solihull on Monday and Tuesday. However, Wednesday dried up and the pitches had drained effectively. The boys were beyond excited all day and by the time kick off came round at 2:30pm, they were focused and raring to go. Debutant Marley opened the scoring with a well taken finish but the scores were level very soon after that. That appeared to be the pattern for the first half: Ruckleigh took the lead, Eversfield equalised. After Marley poached a second and Areev a thunderbolt of a 3rd, the end to end first half finished 3-3.

We knew we had made mistakes at the back and tightened up defensively for the second half. As soon as Mahdi had driven a long range shot straight past the Eversfield goalkeeper early on, Ruckleigh took charge and the second half became a shooting gallery for the boys. Marley quickly completed his hat trick and Areev and Rohan added to the score. Neil, in goal for Ruckleigh, barely saw the ball but when called upon, was committed and dominating. It was a truly impressive performance and we ran out 8-3 winners.Star player: Marley- one of the best debuts for the school I have seen.
