After the first team’s efforts on Wednesday, the Under 9s took to the field on Thursday in a Kwik Cricket match at Ruckleigh. The boys were understandably excited as it was the first home cricket match for 2 years. The sun was shining and the field looked immaculate. We batted first and were steady throughout the innings, but it was down to the explosive Kian in the last 3 overs who smashed 4s and 6s to push our total to a respectable 236. West House the took to the field and their innings took on a similar picture to ours. We took regular wickets, but also bowled with a certain lack of indiscipline giving away a few wides and no balls which hindered our progress. West House ran out eventual winners by 50 runs, but it was a superb afternoon and a great experience for the boys.
