On Thursday 18th November Year 4 enjoyed a very informative visit to Solihull Synagogue. The visit was to support our study of Judaism in R.E. The children were greeted by our guide Marina who explained in detail some of the important artefacts used in the Jewish religion.  They had the opportunity to wear a tallit (scarf) and kippah (skull cap) which they found to be great fun. They also learned about the importance of the Torah Scrolls. Did you know it can take up to one and a half years to handwrite a Torah Scroll? The children were given the opportunity to find out more about the Jewish religion and what it is like to attend a Jewish service.  They were very well behaved and some asked pertinent questions.  It is always so interesting to find out about different religions and to experience what we have discussed in lessons first hand.
