Year 3 Visit to Lunt Fort

On Monday, Year 3 enjoyed a visit to Lunt Fort, the archeological site of a Roman fort, excavated and partially reconstructed in the village of Baginton. We learnt how Roman soldiers defended their fort from Celtic invaders, about their armour, and how to march whilst shouting 'Sin Dex!' (short for 'Left, Right! ' in Latin). The children's favourite part of the day was participating in a battle-drill in the arena, sparring with swords and shields and using formations to protect themselves from flying spears!
