The sport fixtures come thick and fast at this time of year and on Thursday 15th June Miss Smirles and I took the Under 11 Giris Rounders team to the ISA Rounders Tournament. Miss Smirles has put a lot of time and effort into ensuring the girls were as ready and prepared as possible as this was the first time we had entered this event.

We arrived at Stafford Prep in glorious sunshine and started the tournament with a resounding 8-4 win against Old Vicarage. The next two games against Twycross House and Stafford Prep showed that although we were skilful in our play, we were still a little unsure of the tactical nuances of the game and were narrowly beaten by 2 much more experienced teams. However the girls picked themselves for our final group game against Crackley Hall where we batted first and scored 4 rounders. This was always going to be a difficult score to defend, but with tight bowling and fielding we managed to sneak an unlikely 4-4 draw. And on to our final game of the day against Stafford Prep B where we batted first once again and, once again, scored 4 rounders. It would be a monumental task to actually grab a victory from this, but once again with stupendous catching from Anya and Sophia and faultless bowling from Jasmine we snatched a victory 3 1/2 - 4. It was a great end to a wonderful day.
