Today Mr Whichello and I took 8 of our year 6 girls to the ISA U11 7-a-side Netball tournament at Malvern St James. After a challenging tournament last year the girls were understandably nervous for the day ahead. After an initial shaky start the girls rallied and put in a tremendous performance to beat Heathfield 7-0, with goals from Jasmine Lines and Shreeya Deepak. After the group stage the girls went on to play a quarter final against St Dominics, who we beat 3-1, with goals from Eleanor Ray and Jasmine Lines. An intense semi-final was settled by just 1 goal, with Ruckleigh running out 3-2 winners, goals scored by Jasmine and Sanaa. This put us through to a gripping final against our hosts, Malvern St James. An end to end game finished at 5-3 to Malvern St James. Our girls walked away from the final with their heads held high and a runners up trophy in their hands. Mr Whichello and I are incredibly proud of the girls development and improvement in the space of a year and the teamwork and determination they showed throughout the day. Player of the tournament for Ruckleigh was our team captain, Anya. Well done girls!
