This morning, Nursery were treated to a musical story time workshop from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. This interactive workshop engaged the children in a story called `Ruby's Worries`, where we listened to music to help us understand different emotions and break down the message of the story. The children explored a Cello played by Kate and a Violin played by Julia and, by the end of the session, could identify the difference in sound between the two instruments. To finish, we reflected upon the story we read and discussed how talking about worries helps them go away. The children thoroughly enjoyed this session, laughing throughout and commenting on whether the music made them happy, sad, sleepy or angry.
