We were delighted to welcome Lis Foy to Assembly today who spoke to us about ‘School In A Bag’ charity.  School in a Bag was created to help poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children throughout the world. Each 'SchoolBag' is filled with stationery, learning resources and eating utensils that will enable a child to write, draw, colour, calculate, express themselves and above all learn.

Lis gave us much to think about when, amongst other things, she mentioned that in some countries children have to make sure their one pencil lasts a whole year. It made us all think about how easily we acquire our writing equipment and I know that if I look in drawers and cupboards I will all find several discarded pencils, both at school and at home.

Today, 35 bags were packed, each containing: 6 exercise books, a 30cm ruler, 12 rubber tipped pencils, 12 colouring pencils, a geometry set with a pencil sharpener, a pencil case containing ballpoint pens, a water bottle and lunchbox with a spork.

All bags have a unique number and we can track the bags we packed to know who receives them by going on to the ‘schoolinabag’ website and tapping in the number of a bag packed.
