On Monday 11th October, four of our mathematicians from year five: Ryan, Misha, Thomas and Rohan attended a Maths Challenge at Princethorpe College with Douglas Buchanan. There were a large number of local primary schools in attendance and the young mathematicians completed six mathematical tasks in 8 minute sessions. Our team from Ruckleigh felt well prepared after completing similar challenges at sessions held with Mrs Groen during lunchtime so the broken calculators, cycling routes and make 24 challenges were all familiar. At the last competition our team found tangrams tricky so we spent time using the online tangram channel to build our confidence, it obviously paid off because this year Thomas and Rohan were our first place winners! Well done to all of the children that took part and to those that completed the puzzles with Mrs Groen, keep up the good work!
