On Monday 11th November, years five and six took part in the Primary Maths Challenge. The Primary Mathematics Challenge is a fun and exciting mathematical Challenge aimed at pupils in years 5 and 6 in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The PMC is not designed to be just another test in the school year, the PMC encourages enthusiasm, boosts confidence in mathematics and shows the different ways questions can be asked. We believe in the importance of Problem Solving as a means of helping pupils develop their reasoning skills.

Congratulations to all the children that took part in the Primary Maths Challenge this year, there were 20 multiple choice questions followed by 5 very challenging word problems to complete in a time limit of 45 minutes. The results were exceptionally high. The following children were awarded a gold certificate: Mohammed, Avneesh, Tarun, Sonum and Toby. Silver certificates: Aryan, Abhi, Taneesha, Michael, Shukrithi, Anika, Kamraan. Bronze certificates: Daniel, Shreya, Vinayak, Lakshya, Shreya, Ryan, Amelia, Jeet, Zhian, Ananya, Atchuthan, Eleanor and Anoushka.
Well done to all our Ruckleigh mathematicians, we look forward to hearing which children are selected to enter the Bonus round in February.
