The 6 boys chosen for the Under 11 5-a-side squad boarded the huge coach that was sent for us with great excitement (and a few nerves) on Monday morning to travel to Kidderminster for the Midlands 5-a-side tournament. With Zak replacing the injured Sulaiman in goal, I was unsure as to how the day would unfold. Well the morning couldn’t have been more of a surprise. We went undefeated in the first 3 games with 2 wins and a draw, but we didn’t concede a single goal. The last 2 games of the morning resulted in a defeat and a win, but I was impressed with the way the boys applied themselves with Leonard and Ethan proving a constant threat and Reyaan  keeping things tight at the back. Our good run meant that we qualified for the group with all the other second placed teams which meant our afternoon would be somewhat more difficult. And so it proved to be as the boys tired the wins became harder to come by. We finished the afternoon with 2 draws and 3 defeats but every game was extremely close and all 3 defeats were by the odd goal. All in all it was a pretty successful tournament and the boys clearly enjoyed playing together and giving their all for each other all day.
