The first football tournament of the season was here before we knew it, and our freshly kitted Under 10 squad travelled an hour north to Leicestershire to play against another 9 ISA schools made up of Year 4 and 5 players. The tournament started with promise and we won our first 3 games (all 1-0) with goals from Ethan and Leonard. Reyan and Hector were unbeatable in defence and Sulaiman was keeping goal with a safe pair of hands. We did lose to OVS (who were last year’s Under 9 winners) in our last game and so finished 2nd in the group which meant we played our final game in the 3rd/4th place playoff against Quinton. It was a very one-sided game which Ruckleigh dominated from the start but at half time we only had one goal to show for it from Leonard and, despite numerous chances in the second half that’s how the game ended. A 1-0 victory to Ruckleigh and so with a record of played 5, won 4, lost 1 we ended the tournament in a creditable 3rd place. Miss Smirles and I were impressed with your play and your attitude.
