What a treat it was to watch Year 1 perform an Assembly for our Harvest Festival. The singing, acting and music had us all entertained and it was difficult to believe the children were of such a young age. The children performed ‘The Little Red Hen’, a story about sharing with each other. The story begins when no one would help the Little Red Hen harvest the wheat and make it into bread. The hen had to do it all by herself. At the end of the story the other animals realised how selfish they had been and that the right thing to do it share with each other. Harvest is all about sharing what we have with others who are less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you to everyone who contributed food items. After lunch the children performed ‘The Little Red Hen’ story to our neighbours at Ardenlea. It is a valuable experience for the children to perform to different audiences and have a respect for others. They all spoke clearly and were very polite to the residents and made Ruckleigh School so proud.
