Fire Service Visit for Year Four

Thursday, 26 May 2016

The children from 4D and 4P enjoyed a visit from three fire service personnel who are based at Solihull Fire Station.  Among the information and activities they took part in the children learned the importance of smoke alarms in the home, when, and importantly when not, to dial 999, and what to do in the event of a fire.

There were some gasps of dismay when it was made clear that adults and children should leave the scene of the fire immediately and not return to the scene to find pets.  This may need reinforcing at home.  With the help of Archie, the firemen demonstrated the 'Stop, Drop, Roll' technique. Then Pavan had the pleasure of wearing a full fire person's uniform.  The children enjoyed the visit and we hope to arrange it again next year.

If you find that you do not have the necessary fire alarms in your home please contact your local fire station who will arrange to fit them for you free of charge.
